Rules and regulations

1.  CONDUCT

If, in the opinion of the Committee, any member of the Society;

i. contravenes the Constitution and/or Angling Rules,

ii. is guilty of unsporting conduct and/or pollution, or,

iii. is guilty of conduct unbecoming of a member of the Society then,

the Committee may request such a member to appear at a formal inquiry and, after the inquiry or, in event of such a member not appearing at the enquiry, the Committee may temporarily or permanently suspend such member from the Society by way of an email addressed to the member. The Committee’s decision shall be final and binding. Such member shall not be entitled to any privileges during the period of suspension.

2.  INTERPRETATION OF THE CONSTITUTION AND ANGLING RULES

  1. Should any dispute arise in respect of the meaning or interpretation of the Constitution or any Angling rules, the English version will be accepted as the correct version, the decision of the Committee will be accepted.

  2. Any member of the Society who is dissatisfied with such a decision may place the matter before the next Annual General Meeting provided that written notice of such motion reaches the Honourable  Secretary/Treasurer thirty (30) days before the meeting. The decision of such an Annual General Meeting shall be final and binding.

3.  ANGLING RULES

The spirit of these angling rules is one of sportsmanship and clean play wherein the fish enjoy the same or greater  advantage than the angler.

3.1 – ANGLING EQUIPMENT

  1. No member may fish with more than two rods simultaneously.

  2. Only artificial lures may be used. Natural bait may not be used under any circumstances during any competition to attract or lure fish to be caught on artificial lure. Colorants and flavourants may be used on the artificial lures. Treated porkrind may be used in place of or as a plastic worm, but for no other purpose. No natural bait may be added to artificial lures. Any member who fishes with anything other than artificial lures during a competition shall be disqualified and shall subject him/herself to suspension.

  3. Only one lure may be used per line, except in trout waters where one or more non-rotating flies may be used.

  4. Any type of fly line, braided or monofilament line may be used.

3.2 – GENERAL ANGLING RULES

  1. The angler must cast his/her lure, hook the fish and play it to the bank, boat, net without the help of any other person.

  2. The fish must be hooked in the mouth, or in front of the eyes. Fish hooked in any other part of the body or head cannot be considered for record or competition purposes and should be released immediately.

  3. The following possibilities can disqualify a catch:

i) Failure to comply with equipment specifications.

ii) The assistance of other persons whether when casting, adjusting the reel brake during the playing of the fish or the touching of any portion of the equipment with the exception of the handling of the line at the time of netting the fish.

iii) Injuries to or sickness symptoms on the fish which prejudice its ability to fight.

       4. The Committee’s decision is final.

3.3 – COMPETITIONS

  1. The Committee shall determine dates for and conditions of all competitions on the recommendation of members present at the Committee meetings.

  2. Only one fish per specie per member may be considered for competition purposes.

  3. When a member can’t fish a competition and has a valid excuse for not fishing on the day decided, he may apply with the Weigh-in Officer seven (7) days before such a competition to fish the day following. The member will start at the same time as decided but will have his fish at the Weigh-in Officer on the weigh-in time of the previous day.

  4. The Honorary Secretary/Treasurer, Weigh-in/ Records officer or any other office bearer present shall, at every competition, be in possession of a complete list of all the members of the Society and must be at the earliest opportunity peruse the angling licence of all members and note same on such list.

  5. No fees shall be payable in respect of the usual monthly competitions.

  6. All fish caught during a competition shall be weighed-in/measured at a time and place determined by the Committee.

  7. Where members express their willingness to participate in competitions or outing arrangements be made in respect thereof, such members shall be held liable for any disbursements incurred for their sake whether they are present or not.

  8. No member’s catch may be weighed-in/ measured for competition purposes unless that member has paid his membership fees.

  9. No member’s fish will be weighed-in/measured unless the fish is in his own marked container or weigh bag.

  10. The club shall award no prizes. Donated prizes are optional.

3.4 – SAFETY RULES AND REGULATIONS.

 1. Boats used in competitions held under the auspices of the Association shall have the following safety equipment:

2. Safety rules as prescribed by the Safety Officer shall always be adhered to.

3. Any boat will be made available for inspection by the Safety Officer.

4. Boats will not be allowed to launch before they comply with the safety rules.

6. Non-compliance to the above-mentioned safety rules and regulations can lead to disqualification.
